“Princess Lalla Salma shares a radical streak with the protagonist from Brave. Much like Merida, who wanted to shirk tradition when it came to her arranged marriage, the Moroccan princess is the first wife of a Moroccan ruler to earn her own royal title”; is how the website Popsugar explained its choice for Merida from “Brave” as the Disney version of real life Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco. An explanation that I have to say is pretty much on-point, and that besides the obvious reason, which is the fact that the two princesses share the same beautiful thick red hair.

Disney Princess

In a list that included, Belle of “Beauty and the Beast” as the Disney version of Kate Middleton, Cinderella as Princess Charlene of Monaco, and Aladdin’d Jasmine for Princess Ameera al-Taweel of Saudi Arabia, one has to admit that Popsugar did a phenomenal job in capturing each real life princess’s personality, thus taking the resemblance beyond just the physical aspect.

What a fun article!
