I’m a firm believer in having fun with picking an office outfit. With all the trends that are “In” at the moment, there are so many options other than the rigid suit looks that we have all known and wore more than once. Besides, I do think that whatever you wear to work, has to be comfortable some way or another, after all you spend a whole day in those clothes.

So, in my opinion the first rule in playing with your work outfits is that at times, all you need is one formal piece in the whole look to make it office appropriate. And the remaining pieces of your the look can be more casual and playful, so that it helps reflect your personality in a way.

Take my today’s outfit for an example. I started with a “formal” pair of pants, and then built the outfit around them. In that sense, I paired them with a v-neck white t-shirt, a maxi cardigan, and for some more comfort a pair of sneakers. After all, you can always have a pair of pumps in your bag or stored in your office in case you have some impromptu “fancy shmancy” situation. And as you can see, I also folded the bottom of my pants, and that for two reasons. First of all because I thought it was more fitting that way in terms of proportions, secondly because that way I kind of added a more casual feel to the pants and the outfit overall.
